Anyone going to the woods called Aokigahara, in the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan, will be fulfilled by signs as they enter the mythical woods. The signs don't welcome you, or offer a map. Rather the signs urge visitors not to do the unthinkable and kill themselves.


The indications are placed throughout and also have messages such as" Your life is precious" and"Think one more time". But why would the Japanese authorities be so concerned that people would commit suicide ?


Aokigahara has turned into a renowned location for people of Japan to end their own lives. It's even been called"the perfect place to die" by some Japanese citizens. An astounding 75 bodies (on average) are located inside the large and apparently endless forest every year. Essentially, every couple of days another life is extinguished within of this Japanese forest.

Of course it did not take long for stories of ghosts to emerge. The woods is infamously haunted and it is believed that the lost souls and spirits of people who have finished their life inside Aokigahara woods still linger. Visitors into the haunted woods have reported seeing complete bodied apparitions, hearing whispers that seem to arise from nowhere and more. A lot of men and women who enter the woods become lost and disoriented very quickly. It's not unusual for somebody to get hopelessly lost inside the dense woods. It's also not unusual for someone to encounter a still undiscovered body when walking through the forest.


Just what exactly is it about this forest that makes a lot of Japanese people put an end to their own lives? The puzzle of those woods and the almost unbelievable tragedy associated with them leads to many questions.
